Unconscious survival mechanisms you might be running on autopilot:

  • Thinking of yourself as a brain on legs, disconnected from a body

  • Focusing on how your body looks instead of how your body feels

  • Not prioritising joy, resting, pleasure, creativity, or play

  • Believing you need to do everything yourself instead of leaning on others and allowing yourself to be supported

  • Putting others’ needs before your own in an effort to feel valuable and be accepted

  • Relying on external praise and society’s “gold stars” as a source of self-worth

Hi! I’m Lara (she/her), your coach. 

  • I came to coaching almost two decades after recovering from post-viral fatigue that left me so severely sick I had to be hospitalised.

  • Even after I fully recovered my energy, I came up against old, wounded patterns again in my 30s, working in high-pressure work environments and ignoring my body’s signals.

  • My professional work won awards and got quoted in books – all fun! – but I also had miscarriages, experienced long stretches of feeling “flat” and uninspired, spent wayyyyyyy too long sitting in meetings, and regularly put my body’s needs and personal creative work last.

  • Today, I’ve built a career that works for me and my family; I’m writing a book about family, roots, ancestors, and making home; and I create things that help people be who they are, as they are, so they can do their Big, Beautiful Work – in life, art, literature, and leadership.
